VISION RESTORATION THERAPY
Dr. Scott K. Sanders and Indiana Neuro-ophthalmology & Center for Balance, LLC, is now offering a new therapy, previously unavailable, to help improve visual field loss due to stroke or brain injury.
The brain possesses a characteristic known as "plasticity", which means "capable of being molded". After an injury to the brain occurs, nearby surviving nerves can be "molded" to take over the function of the damaged nerves. This concept has been used in physical therapy for many decades in being able to strengthen a patient who was rendered weak or paralyzed on one side due to a stroke. No one has been able to establish a way to improve visual field loss in a similar manner, until now.
This new therapy is called Vision Restoration TherapyTM (VRT) and is a clinically proven, FDA-cleared vision therapy that can improve a patient's quality of life by restoring some of the lost visual field. This therapy does not require surgery or medication and can be performed daily in your own home using a NovaVision VRT medical device, which resembles a laptop computer.
Although your insurance may cover most of the medical visit costs involved in this therapy, there will be out-of-pocket patient expenses for the intensive vision restoration therapy. A financing option is available if needed.
If you are interested in learning more about your eligibility for VRT, please contact Dr. Sander's office toll-free at (877) 334-6622.
